about

In our travels and tours we have had the blessing of sharing the stage with many diverse and talented acts. One such group is 114 made up of the Gentle Giant Ammar of East African lineage, Sayfoudin of Sicilian and Moroccan descent, and Turkish singing sensation Sarkan. All now residing in Germany, 114 is quickly emerging as one of the most original and talented new groups on the European music scene.

They became RC family on the long drives on our shared tour bus. Our mutual love of the Creator and the creation transcended all boundaries as the bonds of brotherhood were established over beatbox sessions with everyone freestyling in their native tongue(s). It brought a whole new meaning to “I feel you” as we all tuned into the deeper meanings, intentions and emotions that were being expressed improvisationally in unfamiliar languages.

Before we parted ways we hit the studio and “Come as you Are” was born. Inspired by those freestyle sessions and as a celebration of our unity in diversity, the track is quad-lingual! Sarkan sings the chorus in Turkish, Ammar and Sayfoudin rap in German, Tyson and I spit in English and we all sprinkle a little bit of Arabic in the mix. This song is living proof that music can unite people from all walks of life despite outward differences. As the chorus says,

“Let our voices be heard everywhere
Let these words touch every heart
Let them connect us all,
from the first to the last
All come together and unite
Whoever you may be,
Wherever you are
Come find us, and revive your life
Come and leave all your worries,
and your sorrows behind.”
